This study found that gifted adolescents who participated in an extracurricular enrichment program had better outcomes related to psychological and subjective wellbeing, higher positive moods, and a reduction in school fears. 

Mathematics camps: A gift for gifted students? November 2021. Takeaway: Math camp is beneficial for gifted kids and has results beyond math including that the kids are more extroverted and improve their problem solving skills.
